I'm a member of The Node, Chris Hardwick's nerd-sourcing community site. One of the groups I've joined is Daily Writers, which involves writing for ten minutes on a topic and sharing it with a writing partner or with the rest of the group. I'd like to share what I write with you here, even though they're rough and unedited. Even so, I hope you enjoy these bits of flash fiction.

"Ohgodohgodohgodohgod. Stop touching me!"
My hands flew away from her bright red shoulders. She scooted across the bed and grabbed the aloe vera tube from the dresser.
"I don't want to say it, Becks." I got up and padded around to her side of the bed. She sat back down, already squeezing the clear, cooling gel onto the palm of her hand.
"Then don't." She dabbed the aloe vera onto her tender, sunburned skin and winced. I shrugged. Neither of us were in the mood for an argument; the heat of the day lingered in the room, the feeble fan unable to cope. My sweat was sweating.
"You need to be careful, Becky", I said. "It's a tropical sun here."
She scowled. "Why? Because we're in the tropics?"
I sat down and gestured for the tube. She'd managed to spread the aloe vera over her shoulders, but a stubbornly unreachable streak trailed down her spine. She glared at me for a moment before relenting, with a weary smile. She slapped the tube into my hand.
"Thanks. Sorry."
"It's the heat. It's driving me mad too."
